HighAmp Kick-Off Meeting

By mid-2023, the grid requirements will be defined with the distribution grid operator RNG, and the electrical and mechanical design of the three-phase superconducting cable will be developed. Simulations by KIT of different stripline arrangements will guarantee a loss- and space-optimised cable design.
The individual phase conductors will be tested in a subscale model by the end of 2023 in order to build a full-scale model of the three-phase 20 kV cable with a length of 30 m by mid-2024.
The final electrical and mechanical tests on the full-scale model are ultimately planned for late 2024 and early 2025. Parallel to these work steps, TH Köln is scaling up the concept of the 20 kV cable for the 110 kV level.
